PILATES FOR KNEES- PILATES

Level: All Levels

In this All Levels Pilates class we are focusing on strengthening & stretching the areas of our body that support our knees. We will still get a bit of full body here, but with a focus on glutes, hamstrings, hips, and ending with a check in with our ankles. Keep your body healthy and your type of strong.

LOWER BODY RELEASE- YOGA

This Starter Level/All Levels class focuses on moving & releasing the back of our lengths (hamstrings), front of our hips (hip flexors, and inner thighs (adductors). Included in this one: Cat/Cow, thread the needle, sun breath, side bend, modified sun salute, warrior I, Lizard, Janu Sirsasana (head to knee pose) & Uppavista Konasana (wide-angle seated forward fold), ending with a Savasana. Slip this one in to move, be, & surrender into release. Namaste.

GET YOUR DAY!- ANKH BODY SIGNATURE

Level: Base/ Foundation

In this Base/ Foundation level Signature we are moving through the whole body. Planks, ab series, Warrior I, Warrior III, and more. Option for a bigger back bend at the end with Urdhva Dhanurasana (Wheel pose). We’ll end in a restorative bridge. No Savasana in this one. Get your day! Namaste.

YOGA FOR PITTA EPISODE 4- DOSHA CORNER

Welcome to another Pitta (combination of the fire & water elements) balancing sequence.  Focusing on ease, and softening, while imagining our favorite place throughout. Getting our feet wet in this Starter level Pilates class, touching upon the basics here. We’ll begin tapping into our connection with our core: introducing a modified hundred, a little bit of the ab series, work on spinal articulation, get ready for bird dog, modified side plank, kneeling plank/plank, swan, and a few things in between. BYE BYE DESK –(ANKH BODY SIGNATURE)

Description: In this Signature class we are leaving our desk posture behind. Don’t worry we are still getting our full body strength work in with some fav moves: plank, side plank with thread the needle, & booty pulses. We’ll also open up the shoulders and whole upper body with twists & extension, spending a few moments in Sphinx pose and crocodile. Also getting the front of our hips with a Lizard stretch. Settle Into Flow- YOGA

In this Yoga class we are doing a simple flow to get ourselves moving, creating strength and the feeling of length. Great at the start of your journey, or to slip something into a busy day. We’ll do: cat/cow, down dog, sun breaths, a modified sun salute, adding in some gentle side stretching, and even a standing balance. Ending with a reclined twist and Savasana. Namaste.

Slip Into Your AM- YOGA

In this Yoga class we are energizing and creating spaciousness for our day. Short & Sweet, there’s always time for you. We’ll start with Surya Bhedana, an energizing breathing technique*, and follow it up with some Sun breaths modified Sun Salutes, Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II), Triangle pose (Trikonasana), Chair pose (Utkatasana), Locust pose (Salabhasana), Mermaid and a few more things in between. Ending with a mini Savasana and rocking up into the day. Namaste.

*If you are feeling anxious, emotionally or physically hot, or you are pregnant this may be a technique to skip. You can just sit and observe your breath instead. Always listen to your body.

This class is all about using our stability to find freedom of movement adding in some more circular motion. Still getting the whole body: abs, spinal articulation, planks and extension. Basically all you need to know is you are gonna wind it up, work it, and feel gooooood.

We’ll start with Padadirsasana  a technique to balance out our breath between our right and left nostrils (right and left energy channels). This meditation is  heart centered and peace focused using  the silent mantra “Sat Yum.” There will be some soft music in the background throughout. Namaste.

In this Pilates class we are hitting the whole body with a little extra oomph using some props. We’ll plank, ab it out, and get our booty and arms too, with some balance work in there. Have fun, and be good to yourself.

PREGNANCY BOOST- ANKH BODY SIGNATURE

Get a little workout, practice, and meditation in. Honor your body. We’ll do some TVA (Transversus Abdominis) breathing & pelvic floor strengthening to begin. Moving through some cat / cows, lunges, Lizard, Warrior II, Trikonasana (Triangle pose), heart opening and back of leg strengthening. Take breaks where you need, and sip water. We’ll end with a heart centered meditation in Goddess pose, followed by some extra time to replenish and nurture with some soft music. Namaste

In this All levels Yoga Nidra class we are working towards finding balance.Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation often done in Savasana and can release emotions. We’ll do a right, left rotation of awareness, pairing of opposites, and use visualization to expand our consciousness. A BIT OF GRIT –(ANKH BODY SIGNATURE)

Description: In this Foundation level Signature class we are staying off the wrists. So this is great if you have any wrist situations or not. Transitions are a little trickier in this one so stay mindful. We will work our whole body, and balance. Using planks, side planks, camel pose. Open up with Half split and option for full spilt. Yoga For Bridge

Level: Starter

In this Starter level Yoga practice we will work up towards opening up the body getting ready for bridge pose. A gentle flow with a focus on our full complete breath. We work on balance with Tree pose and steadiness with Warrior II, also working shoulder opening with a yoga strap (can use a towel too). Listen to your body and enjoy. Namaste

ALL LEVELS DETOX- ANKH BODY SIGNATURE

In this All levels Signature class we are focusing on detoxing. We will start with Kapalabahti* and move through lots of twists, some core work, Surya B variation, with Warrior III as our balancing post, option to add the twist with lots more. We focus on our physical form to unlock boundaries and release what we no longer need. Namaste.

YOGA FOR PITTA: EPISODE 1

Level: Foundation

Length: 43 mins

 Pitta in Ayurveda correlates to the elemental combination in us of Fire & Water. Pitta can get out of balance in all of us, especially if you are a Pitta mind body type.  When Pitta is out of balance we tend to to get judgmental, agitated, heated physically as well as emotionally. Pitta  time of year is typically late spring through summer (Any day that mimics this weather (hot & especially dry days) though can create an imbalance in this Dosha. This doesn’t mean that this is it, Pitta, just like the other Doshas can go out of balance at any time. So in this all levels class we are finding a softness to our hard work, cooling ourselves down by working within our edge rather than always pushing past them. Namaste.

ARMS & BOOTY- PILATES

TURN THE SWITCH – YOGA

Description:  In this Base level class we bring in the yoga sutra “Vitarka-badhane Pratipaksha-Bhavanam” which gives us access to rest on the opposite, the opposite feeling or perspective. In this class we have the opportunity for poses such as Warrior III as our balancing pose and half split and full spilt (Hanumanasana) if it is a part of your practice.
